What: The YPF Trust Quality Mark for Supplementary Education recognises settings that provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment for children and young people. These settings serve as a second home, offering a joyful atmosphere where youth can participate actively, develop their voices, and feel a sense of belonging.
Why: Our vision at YPF Trust is closely intertwined with our commitment to bolstering supplementary education settings and empowering marginalised youth. These grassroots community-led organisations play a pivotal role in complementing mainstream education and youth services by tailoring support and resources to individual communities. Investing in supplementary education enables the YPF Trust and the wider YPF network to address educational and youth work inequalities, nurturing the well-being and success of all children and young people within local communities. We aspire to create an equitable landscape where every young person can flourish, enriched by their cultural background, heritage, or faith, by ensuring they have access to well-supported supplementary education settings within the broader educational and youth ecosystem.
How: Our aim is to ensure that every local area in England has the right structures and systems to provide the best opportunities and outcomes for all children and young people. We believe that strong local youth partnerships are essential for this. We’ll work closely with these partnerships in our network to introduce the Quality Mark, tailored to meet local needs.
Process to achieve YPF Trust Quality Mark for Supplementary EducationThe YPF Trust provides the necessary tools, resources, and guidance for supplementary education settings to achieve the Quality Mark in collaboration with their local youth partnership. Our goal is to empower these settings to thrive and make a positive impact in their communities.
As a leading charity supporting supplementary education across England, we recognise their crucial role, especially in under-represented communities. Despite facing challenges like limited resources, these schools have great potential for positive change. That’s why the YPF Trust is dedicated to enhancing its capabilities through the implementation of the Quality Mark. We offer training and skill development programmes for staff within the YPF network thereby developing expertise in supplementary education. Through impactful partnerships, we aim to optimise our resources and maximise our reach. The YPF Trust Quality Mark for Supplementary Education offers an inclusive approach to serving our network organisations, YPFs, LYPs, and partners. We aim for impactful outcomes, with a focus on elevating the profile of supplementary education to improve outcomes for underserved young people.
We provide a service to out-of-school settings (primarily, but not exclusively, led by Black, Asian, refugee and minority communities) enabling them to access appropriate support and training at times and in locations that are convenient to them.
We aim for all out-of-school settings in England that are active and offering curriculum and/or mother-tongue tuition to be encouraged to use the YPF Trust framework for quality supplementary education to demonstrate their adherence to the DfE Code of Practice and safeguarding guidance. Our ideal is for appropriate, rigorous and developmental quality assurance to be available for all out-of-school educational provision (including faith instruction and privately-run tutoring) so that parents and children have access to real options to address educational disadvantage and underachievement that are not determined by socio-economic status; as is presently the case.
